BIEN (The International Conference of Women Scientists and Engineers conference) was initiated in 2003 as the first international conference organized by The Association of Korean Woman Scientists and Engineers (KWSE).
This international conference aims to spread and exchange the achievements of Bio, Information, Environment/Energy/Earth, Space and Basic Science.
We also try to strengthen the global capacity of women scientists and engineers by building international networks for collaboration and partnerships between domestic and foreign scientists and engineers.
BIEN was held in Daejeon in 2003, Busan in 2009, Seoul in 2013, Seoul in 2017 and Daejeon in 2021.
BIEN 2021 was held in a approximately 480 participants (387 online, 93 offline) from 29 countries under the theme of "Women Scientists and Engineers Leading the Future from New Normal."
